Daniel J. Fuchs
My niece, Hannah, and myself in MN.
I am working under the direction of Paul S. Weiss and research is directed towards making atomic-scale measurements. Currently, I am a sixth year graduate student in the Chemistry Department at the Pennsylvania State University. One series of experiments that I am working on explores the electronic properties of covalently attached gold nanoparticles using the scanning tunneling microscope and scanning tunneling spectroscopy. We covalently attach gold nanoparticles with inserted dithiol molecules, which immobilizes the nanoparticle and the assembly can be probed in a repeatable manner.
I recieved my B.S. in Chemistry
from Viterbo College, now
Viterbo University in the Spring of
1998. Among other activities at Viterbo, I was a member of the men's soccer
team for four years.
